Two Police Officers, Suspect Shot In Falmouth

Police Line Do Not Cross Tape

FALMOUTH, MA (WBZ-AM) -- Two police officers were shot in Falmouth this evening

Cape and Islands DA Michael O'Keefe says officers responded to a residence on Ashley Drive around 5:25 PM for reports of someone causing a "disturbance in the street".

DA O'Keefe says, when officers confronted that person, he became "agitated", pulled a gun, and fired at the officers. He says the officers were able to return fire and the suspect was hit "a number of times". The suspect is hospitalized. His condition has not been released.

The DA says one officer was hit twice - once in the vest, and once above the vest. That officer is in the hospital, but is awake and with his family. He is expected to recover.

DA O'Keefe says the second officer suffered a graze wound to the head. That officer has been treated and released from the hospital, and is now with his family.
