BOSTON (WBZ-AM) -- The Red Sox clinched the American League East in Yankee Stadium, then returned there to end the Yankees' season in Game 4 of the Division Series. Sox skipper Alex Cora has nothing but respect for Boston's top rival.

"That's a great team, and all throughout the season it was back and forth, great games," said Cora. "I think we gave the audience and the baseball world a great show."

Craig Kimbrel and Matt Barnes said it's nice to eliminate such a respected opponent. "They're the guys that we're competing against all year long, and then to be able to put them out of the playoffs like this feels pretty good," said Kimbrel. "It's one of the biggest rivalries in sports," added Barnes.

Since 1967, Sox and Yanks have split their four playoff series'. New York's won 12 of the 23 games. Regular season meetings? Yankees have the edge, 409-408.

The Red Sox will continue in the ALCS Saturday against the Astros.
