BOSTON (WBZ-AM) -- Red Sox fans remember Dave Roberts' steal during the 2004 ALCS against the Yankees like it was yesterday--and we all know what happened next.

Sox skipper Alex Cora played with Dave Roberts on the Dodgers in 2004, and remembers when his teammate was dealt to Boston.

"We were in San Diego, we had the best team in the National League West," Cora remembers. "He got called into the office by Jim Tracey, and they told him he got traded to the Red Sox. He was down, upset. It was a good group, we had something special going on. And I still remember, I told him, hey man, you going to a great baseball city, you never know what can happen. He came here, he stole that base, and that night I texted him--I was like, I don't know what's gonna happen here, but if this happens, you're going to become a hero. And he is, here in this city."

Now the Dodgers' manager, Roberts is excited to be back.

"I have a lot of fond memories of the Red Sox and Fenway Park," he said. "To be wearing another uniform, going in there, playing for a World Series championship is going to be special for me. Two storied franchises going head to head. It's going to be a great series."

Game one of the World Series is tomorrow.
