BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — It may have been the lowest-scoring game in Super Bowl history, but a member of the New England Patriots offense was still able to claim the Most Valuable Player award at Super Bowl LIII.

32-year-old wide receiver Julian Edelman finished the game with 10 receptions on 12 targets for 141 yards, enough to become the second-leading receiver in NFL playoff history behind Jerry Rice.

Edelman’s 115 postseason receptions and 1,412 receiving yards trails Rice’s 151 catches and 2,245 yards.

Edelman is just the third Patriots player to be named Super Bowl MVP, joining Tom Brady and Deion Branch , and the 7 th wide receiver to be awarded the honor.
