The New York Giants have demoted QB Daniel Jones to third-string after a terribly disappointing season in which it appears he has regressed. We’ve seen them defend their decision to give him that massive contract and use it as a way to rationalize why they kept running him out there, but they’ve finally gotten through the anger and depression of admitting they made a mistake and are now accepting the reality that they need to move on. It’s not easy to move on from mistakes, especially your own, but the Giants have been forced to finally face reality, stop fishing and cut bait with Jones.
Doug Gottlieb: “It’s a bad contract...(Daniel Jones) had, alright, two years? You’re done, wash your hands of it (and) move on. But the rationalization of it is over...they’ve gotten to the stage of acceptance. Once you’ve accepted it, now you can move on.”
