The Knicks have fired their head coach, Tomm Thibodeau just days after being eliminated from the NBA Playoffs. The move is shocking considering the Knicks have been steadily improving under his watch and made it to the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time in 25 years. The Knicks can say whatever they want but their actions here clearly imply they think Thibodeau was the weak link in their championship aspirations.
Doug Gottlieb: “It puts the blame squarely on (Tom Thibodeau) for losing that last series. Whatever they say, it doesn’t actually matter. The reality of it is, when you lose a series in the Conference Finals, the furthest the Knicks have gotten in 25 years, especially the way in which they lost game 1, and the first change you make is that of the head coach, you’re blaming him for the loss.”
